New Super Over Cricket Rules By International Cricket Council (ICC)


The international cricket council has emplimented a new rules for the super over .In the recent world cup there has been many critism over the past rules in super over.

The rules was that if the super over became tie then the team who scored maximum boundary will win the match , but this rules got many critism after the world cup final match where England won the match because of maximum boundary and Newzeland lost the match because of less boundary , but the score were same from both the team for this reason people cricised ICC super over rules.

So now ICC has taken some major step they had a meeting with every board of cricket and decided that there will be new rules in the super over , if the super over is tie then there will be again super over until one team wins. This will be implemented in all matches and it starts from England Vs South Africa match.Also it will be applied in all international matches and can also be applied in IPL matches. This new rules is welcomed by all cricket fan and also critics. In world cup it was bad luck for Newzeland that they lost the world cup due to some bad rules.

What Is The Procedure Of Super Over?

• Untill there is unexpected circumstances during the match then there will be unlimited super over played unlit one team manages to win the match.
• In the super Over each team will have to face only one over each ,the winner will be the team which score more run in the super Over.
• Each team will have only two wicket in one over the loss of one wicket will end the team batting innings.
• Each team will be allowed to make one review of unsuccesfull player in every innings of the super Over. This intitlement shall apply according to the number of unsuccesfull player review request made by the team during the match.
• If there is no issue with the weather during the match then the super Over should start after after five minutes of the match. Also if there is any issue with the weather then it depends on ICC match referee , normally the super over should takes place on the same date .
• The super bowl will be played until the final result ,but if there is any delay or interruption during the super Over, extra time taken for the start of super over then extra time will be given to complete the super Over or any subsequent super over

• The gap between the time at which the match ended and the time the original match have been scheduled to finish has the entire extra time will be used.
• The rules also means that if the match is not completed within the extra time given then the match will be abandoned.
• The super over shall be played at the same pitch where the main match has been played or if any changes required then the ICC match referee have to sonsult with the ground authority and the umpires.
• Only nominated player for the main match will be allowed to participate in the super Over. The player can be unable to continue playing super over due to illness or injury or other acceptable reason. The relevant playing condition will be applied in the super over as it is in the main match.
• Any penalty time being served in the match shall be carried forward to the super Over.
• The umpires should stand at the same end in which the match ended. They should stand in the same end when the super Over starts.
• The team batting second should bat first in the super Over and the team batting first should bowl first.
• The captain of the feilding team in the super Over will choose the ball from the box of spare ball provided by the umpire with that ball the fielding team will start bowling this ball should be the ball including in the match ,the match ball will be used in super over.The team bowling second can choose this ball or another ball ball that is used in the match.
• The feilding side will choose from which end they want to bowl the super Over.
• The feilding restrictions should be same for both the team playing in the super Over.
• The winner of the super Over shall be the team which score more run than the other will be called as winner.

Tied Super Over – Reapeating The Super Over

In super Over their should be only 5 minutes break in between the innings, means when one innings end the next innings should start with in 5 minutes.
The ball selected by both teams for the super Over ,that ball shall be used again if the next super Over continues.
The feilding team must do bowling from the opposite end in the subsequent super Over and that is applied on both the team.
If a batsman is out in one super Over then then he is ineligible to bat again in the next super over if continues.
The bowler who bowled one super over he is also ineligible to bowl in the next super over if continues.
The playing condition will be the same in the super Over as it was in the previous over. For example field restrictions.
There is some exceptions in the super Over for example if in one day two matches will be there double header match that time in the first match multiple super Over cannot be done so there will be limited super Over. That will be decided by the ICC and other board together.
The team maximum run will win the super over. There can be multiple super we find a winner.

Extra Time Available For Super Over

Example – If the match is set to end at 10:30 pm with extra of 60 minutes time available for extra time to complete the match . Then say if the match ended late say at 10:50 the match has ended then the super Over should start with in 5 minutes times at 10:55pm the super over should start. The extra time of 40 minutes will be given to complete the full super over match.
The super over stars at time and from the 40 minutes given to them from that 40 minutes 10 minutes will be taken for read and come to the ground so they get 30 minute to complete the match.
If the play does not completed within that 30 minute than the super Over will be abandoned and the match will be declared tie.

Example – If the match is set to end at 10:30 pm with extra of 60 minutes time available for extra time to complete the match . The extra time available to complete the super Over is 30 minutes so with in that time ful super Over need to be completed otherwise the match will be declared as a tie match and there will be 5 minutes of extra time will be given to the each team after every innings.
